This Slips, Trips and Falls programme is designed to ensure all staff understand why slips, trips and falls happen and what they can do to reduce this risk and avoid workplace accidents.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Understand and work towards compliance with The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Learn about slip and trip mapping
- Learn about what your responsibilities are to ensure workplaces are free from hazards where possible
SECTION 1
Both you and your employer have a legal obligation towards the health and safety of all workers, visitors, and members of the public who might be affected by the work being carried out – this includes preventing slips, trips, and falls. In this section, we will look at everyone’s responsibilities, hazards and the accident book.
SECTION 2
Slips and Trips are the most common cause of injury to employees in the workplace, but they also cause over half of all injuries to members of the public in open workplaces – like shops and hospitals. The rest of this section is all about slip and trip hazards and the responsibility you have to deal with them.
SECTION 3
Falls from height can be incredibly dangerous and are the leading cause of workplace fatalities. They’re also responsible for countless spinal injuries, broken bones, twisted ankles, sprains, and strains. In this section, we’re going to see what you need to do to stay safe when working at heights and using ladders.
