This Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Training course was created in collaboration with global EDI experts and introduces the protected characteristics, discrimination, victimisation, and unfair treatment within a professional environment. The UK & Ireland become more culturally diverse each year and as such, so do workplaces. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion training is, therefore, becoming an essential part of training for all workplaces

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Understand the key differences in equality law between the UK and Ireland, including The Employment Equality Acts and Equal Status Acts of Ireland.
  • Understand the Equality Act 2010 (UK) and learn about protected characteristics
  • Understand the types of discrimination, including direct, indirect, harassment and victimisation
  • Know how to treat others with respect and offer everyone fair access to opportunities

Lesson 1

Lesson 1 focuses on equality law in Ireland and will highlight where is differs from equivalent UK laws. The Employment Equality Acts and Equal Status Acts of Ireland will be compared to the Equality Act 2010 (UK).

Lesson 2

Lesson 2 has four sections and focuses on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the context of UK law.

SECTION 1

In section one, we’ll explore why treating people fairly and respectfully is a social and ethical responsibility and why it is so important; we’ll envision the ideal workplace and how it feels to be a part of one, as well as the practical part you can play in making it a reality.

SECTION 2

In section two, we’ll cover the barriers that can prevent us from creating the ideal workplace and how they can be avoided and resolved. This will cover, unacceptable behaviours like bias, stereotyping, discrimination, harassment and victimisation.

SECTION 3

In section three, we’ll introduce employees to the personal characteristics that are protected from discrimination, and we’ll offer advice on how to treat people fairly and with respect in relation to each characteristic.

SECTION 4

And in our final section, we’ll come back to the ideal workplace. And we’ll touch upon learning about, embracing and celebrating each others’ differences and the business advantages to having a diverse workforce – that values its employees and has structures in place to support each person.
