About our expert
Professor S.S. Vasan is an internationally recognised leader in infectious diseases and vaccine science. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, which is funding his Disease X preparedness research through its Triennial Travel Medicine Research Fellowship Award from 2024 to 2027. He also received the Australian science agency’s Chairman’s Medal in 2020 for leading its COVID-19 response. His work spans research, policy, and preparedness planning, with a focus on how health organisations and governments respond to emerging infectious risks.
