Our Pharmacy First Training Course is designed to equip community pharmacists with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to confidently deliver the NHS Pharmacy First service. This comprehensive e-learning programme covers minor ailment assessment, national protocols, PGDs, patient pathways, safety considerations, and effective clinical decision-making. It supports pharmacists to provide timely early intervention, reduce unnecessary GP appointments, and deliver safe, standardised care across England.
Each condition includes: assessment steps, red flags, PGD/protocol-driven treatment options, safety-netting advice, referral pathways, and case-based examples:
Multiple-choice assessment to consolidate learning and confirm competence
Yes, you will receive a certificate on successful completion of the course.
Assessment is completed through multiple-choice questions integrated throughout the course and at the end.
This e-learning course provides 4.5 CPD hours and is fully self-paced.
This course is aligned to NHS Pharmacy First national protocols and PGDs, supporting pharmacists to deliver safe, consistent minor ailment management. Pharmacists must also meet NHS service requirements, including clinical governance and organisational readiness.

Great course. The course mainly outlined how important it is for pharmacists to communicate clearly with patients, involve them in making decisions about their care, and know when to refer them to other professionals. These skills are important for safe practice.
