Health Academy are pleased to offer a series of practical face-to-face flu training workshops in various locations throughout the country. These workshops can be attended along with completion of our Foundations of Immunisation online course. This will allow new immunisers to be compliant with ‘National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training for Registered Healthcare Practitioners‘ – PHE.
Who is this face-to-face flu training workshop with online Foundations of Immunisation course suitable for?
These face-to-face flu training workshops blended with online foundation training are suitable for any healthcare practitioners wishing to administer vaccines.
So what vaccines and modules have we included in the training?
The following topics are included in the blended course:
Foundations of Immunisation Core Modules
- The aims of immunisation, national vaccine policy and schedules
- The immune response to vaccines and how vaccines work
- The different types of vaccines, their composition and the indications and contraindications
- Current issues in immunisation
- Any changes to vaccine recommendations or national policy
- Communicating with patients, parents and carers about vaccines
- Legal issues in immunisation
- Storage and handling of vaccines
- Correct administration of vaccines
- Documentation, record keeping and reporting
- Strategies for optimising immunisation uptake
Practical Skills Modules
- Injection technique (IM & SC) practical session
- Basic Life Support practical session
- Management of anaphylaxis and use of adrenaline
Flu Modules
- Introduction to Seasonal Influenza
- The UK Annual Flu Programme 2022/23
- Q&A session for problems encountered in practice

- Live attenuated influenza vaccine – LAIV

How long do the face-to-face flu training 2022/23 workshops last?
Face-to-face workshops
We have scheduled an AM and PM session on each date, so you can choose one that’s convenient for you. The sessions will run for 3.5hrs therefore, either starting at 9.00am or 1.30pm depending on your preference.
Session times are:
- Morning: 9.00 – 12.30
- Afternoon: 13.30 – 17.00
Online training
The online Foundations of Immunisation course should take approximately 10 hours to complete.
