Use the enclosed syringe and needle
Inject water into the vein tubing only (do not inject the balloon, as this may damage the pad)
Optional: add red food colouring to the water for a more realistic appearance

How to set up the IV training pad
These kits are really easy to set up and use and you can reuse the model multiple times for practice. To set it up you simply inject the ‘vein’ (not the balloon or this will break it) with water using the enclosed syringe and needle. You can add some red food colouring for effect if you like. Then you can practice handling all the different types of blood-taking equipment in the pack as many times as you need to; including skin decontamination techniques, inserting the various types of needles, filling the sample tubes, and even applying dressings.
