Description
This is 1/2 day Annual Immunisation Update virtual training course for Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) including Pneumococcal, Shingles & Vitamin B12 injections and an overview of COVID-19 and Influenza. This course has been developed in line with the ‘National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Vaccination Training’ – UKHSA.
Morning courses run from 09.15 – 12.45 (UK)
Afternoon course run from 13.30 – 17.00 (UK)
So who is it suitable for?
All HCSWs administering vaccines should undertake annual immunisation training to ensure they stay up to date in their practice. This course is therefore suitable for any experienced HCSWs administering vaccines and wishing to update.
So what’s included in this 1/2 day Annual Immunisation Update virtual course?
Firstly, this is an interactive, engaging, and comprehensive virtual 1/2 day course. We have therefore included all of the annual update modules recommended in the National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Vaccination Training (UKHSA)Â document.
Annual Immunisation Update – Core ModulesÂ
- The aims of vaccination, national vaccine policy and schedules
- The immune response to vaccines and how vaccines work
- Vaccine preventable diseases
- The different types of vaccines, their composition and their indications and contraindications
- Current issues in vaccination
- Communicating with patients, parents and carers about vaccines
- Legal issues as applied to vaccination: consent and legal mechanisms to supply and administer vaccines
- Storage and handling of vaccines
Vaccine Preventable Diseases
We have also include any update information for vaccine products for Healthcare Support Workers including:
- Pneumococcal
- Shingles
- Covid-19
- Seasonal Influenza
In addition Vitamin B12 injections updates are included in this course
Please note: This course is not a replacement for comprehensive COVID-19 and Influenza training. Up-to-date training should be completed prior to delivering these seasonal programmes to ensure you are fully prepared with the latest guidance and information on clinical risk groups and available vaccine products.
So what’s NOT included in this Annual Immunisation Update virtual training course?
Adult and paediatric Basic Life support and Anaphylaxis Management are available in separate courses.
Our online Flu and Covid vaccine training courses can be purchased as add ons with this course.
Are there any other considerations with immunisation training?
Please also note that UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA)Â recommend a period of supervised practice in addition to comprehensive foundations of immunisation training for new immunisers (UKHSA). As per Resus Council UK guidelines you should also be assessed as competent in Basic Life Support.
