About the Teacher
Alys Bunce
I am a specialist travel health nurse with over a decade of experience of working in and managing private travel health clinics. My previous experience as a registered nurse was in an accident and emergency department in Manchester city centre. These days, I much prefer being on the side of prevention rather than cure!
I love teaching and before I became a nurse, I was an A-level and access course lecturer in Psychology. I now teach a variety of clinical skills including travel health, immunisation, phlebotomy and basic life support. I have spoken at large travel health conferences and have enjoyed delivering training to many nurses, pharmacists, doctors and healthcare support workers over the years.
I am also a keen traveller and mountain biker, and more recently, a mum to two young children who sometimes like to make a cheeky appearance on my Zoom courses. Look out for them if you are joining me on a remote session!

Alys’ Current Health Academy Courses?
These courses are for new immunisers or those looking for their annual update. They are developed in line with the ‘National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training for Registered Healthcare Practitioners‘ document by Public Health England. Please note that new immunisers should also have a period of supervised practice and support with a registered healthcare practitioner who is experienced, up to date and competent in immunisation (PHE).
