Our Communication in Care Training course works alongside Standard 6 of the Care Certificate and provides information about why it is important for Care Workers to understand the importance of effective communication in a care setting.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Learn about how effective and prominent non-verbal communication is
- Understand how to reduce the barriers to effective communication and learn what the barriers are
- Understand why good communication skills are so important in the workplace and what benefits they can bring
SECTION 1
Good communication skills help you accurately understand what the people in your care need from you, they help you organise and plan together what care you’re going to give them, and they enable you to communicate this to your colleagues. In the rest of this section we’ll look at what communication is and the different forms it takes.
SECTION 2
Communication is the foundation of any relationship and just like relationships communication comes in all shapes and sizes. What’s appropriate for one person won’t necessarily be appropriate for another and it’s your job to communicate effectively with your patients. In this section, we will look at the barriers to effective communication and how to reduce these barriers.
