Health Academy are pleased to offer a blended solution for Registered Healthcare Professionals wishing to become vaccinators. Includes UK Childhood & Adult Schedule vaccines. The course is combined of a 1/2 day practical face-to-face vaccination skills workshop and a comprehensive Foundations of Immunisation online course covering the UK schedule childhood and adult vaccines. This combination has been designed in line with the National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training- PHE.
Who are these face-to-face vaccination skills workshops suitable for?
These face-to-face workshops are suitable for any Registered Healthcare Professionals who are new to immunising.
So what modules have we included in the training?
This combination has been designed in line with the National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training. The training is very comprehensive and as per the guidelines should take at least 2 days to complete including the 1/2 day workshop.
Online foundation modules:
- The aims of immunisation, national vaccine policy and schedules
- The immune response to vaccines and how vaccines work
- The different types of vaccines, their composition and the indications and contraindications
- Current issues in immunisation
- Any changes to vaccine recommendations or national policy
- Communicating with patients, parents and carers about vaccines
- Legal issues in immunisation
- Storage and handling of vaccines
- Correct administration of vaccines
- Anaphylaxis and adverse reactions
- Documentation, record keeping and reporting
- Strategies for optimising immunisation uptake
Face to face session:
- Injection technique (IM & SC) practical session
- Basic Life Support practical session
- Management of anaphylaxis and use of adrenaline
- Current issues in immunisation
- Changes to vaccine recommendations, national policy or legislation
- Recent epidemiology of vaccine preventable diseases
Online vaccine modules:
- Diphtheria
- Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)
- Hepatitis B
- Human papillomavirus – HPV (certain serotypes)
- Measles
- Meningococcal disease (certain serogroups)
- Mumps
- Pertussis (whooping cough)
- Pneumococcal disease (certain serotypes)
- Polio
- Rotavirus
- Rubella
- Shingles
- Tetanus
How long do the face-to-face workshops last?
We have scheduled AM and PM sessions. The sessions will run for 3.5hrs, either starting at 9.00am or 1.30pm depending on which course you select.
Session times are:
- Morning: 9.00 – 12.30
- Afternoon: 13.30 – 17.00

Our online Flu and Covid vaccine training courses can be purchased as add ons with this course.
Are there any other considerations with immunisation training?
Please also note that Public Health England recommend a period of supervised practice in addition to comprehensive foundations of immunisation training for new immunisers (PHE).
